Artist Biography

My work is bold, colorful, contemporary, and abstractions of reality — a joyous celebration of life. I work in a number of mediums, primarily kiln formed glass and painting. Working in multiple mediums produces freshness, new ideas and new techniques. My interest in art began in grade school and has continued ever since. A graduate of the University of Iowa as well as postgraduate work in fine art and art education was focused on painting. In 2002, I began working with kiln formed glass which I embraced with total fascination. My glass has evolved into organic and textural explorations. My compositional designs are based on reoccurring themes - the mask, things around me everyday or things I grew up with. Traveling for years throughout Asia, Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico and the United States has provided me an unending flood of ideas, a fascination with history and archaeology. My work has been shown in many galleries throughout the US and is in many private and corporate collections. I have a studio north of downtown Oklahoma City surrounded by trees and the sounds of birds that gives me the freedom to create without city sounds.
